The Potionmakers

A few pimpernels here, a tree-mallow petal here, a few of those purple and white petals here... Can’t take too many or the teachers will get mad. “Hey Ann, do you have the water ready?” I asked. Ann replied, “I thought Yani was bringing the water today, Kara and I got roly-poly shells”.

Gross. But what’s more important is finding wherever Yani is. I doubt she’s gone very far, unless she tried running away again of course. Maybe under the benches? No. Maybe behind Uncle Todd (big oak tree)? Nah. Inside the bushes? No! “Urrgh, where is she?!” But as soon as I shouted that (and garnered a few odd stares), I heard Kara’s voice, “Hey look, she’s coming out of the bathroom” And indeed she was! As we ran up to Yani, Ann asked her a crucial question. “Do you have the bottle?” Yani took a second to remember what she was talking about, but as soon as she did she rushed towards her backpack and grabbed a crinkled up 12 ounce plastic Kirkland water bottle out of her backpack.

“Perfect, all the ingredients for our Perfect Potion is finally ready!” Kara declared. First, Ann added the bug shells. Then came the (now sweaty) flower petals. Finally, we arrived at the drinking fountain to fill the bottle. The potion was further mixed with the help of a twig we picked up off of the ground. And there it was, the Perfect Potion. It... looked mostly like mud... As we looked on with apprehension, Kara asked a question. “So, who’s gonna drink it first?”
